Trunk-or-Treat

This  event is free! We welcome our community to join us from 5 to 7 p.m. for a fun time of fellowship.
 
Dinner will be provided!

Be a Trunk:
We are looking for 35 trunks!
 
What does it take to be a trunk?
It’s easy!
  • Come for setup between 4:15-4:45
    • For safety, Please no late arrivals.
  • Bring candy for 200+ kids
  • Decorate your trunk and get ready to pass out candy!
    • Please no scary decorations
 
Be a Trick-or-Treater:
Come dressed in your costume and bring your treat bag. Please no scary costumes.
 
Activities & Prizes:
There will be door prizes, a rock wall, a train, bounce houses and more. We will also give awards out for the 1st, 2nd & 3rd places for best decorated Trunks and Costumes. So bring your “A” game!

Abound Gathering

Join us for our annual Abound Gathering, September 20-22, 2019. Our 2019 theme is Journey with Jesus. Guest speaker, Jami Amerine, will challenge, encourage and equip us to deepen our relationship with our Savior.

About our Guest Speaker:

Jami Amerine
 
Jami Amerine is an author, speaker, artist, wife, and mom.  She and her husband Justin live in Montgomery Texas and have 6 children ranging in age from 24 to 5.  Justin and Jami are advocates of foster care and adoption.  Jami holds a master’s degree in counseling and human development and loves to encourage women of all ages with the Truth of who they are and how much they are loved.  Jami’s third book launches in August of 2020.  You can learn more about her at www.sacredgroundstickyfloors.com.

Pool Rules:
  • No t-shirts or cutoffs. Swimsuits/swimming attire only.
    • You may wear an over shirt to swim in but it has to be a swimsuit shirt – not cotton.
    • Infants must wear swimming diapers.
  • No running. Walking only.
  • No gum or tobacco use.
  • No inflatable devices or infant float seats. Floaties and life jackets available on site at no cost.
  • No masks, snorkels or fins.
  • Do not enter the pool if you are ill or have an open wound.
  • The City of Conroe and Conroe Church of Christ are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  • Snacks and drinks will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own as well.
    • Food and drinks are restricted to the picnic table area.
    • Glass containers are not allowed.
  • Children under 3 years old must remain within arm’s reach of an adult while in the facility.
  • Children 8 years and under must be accompanied by an adult.
  • To ride the water slides, you must be at least 48″ tall.
  • Life guards will be on duty your your safety. Please follow their instruction.

VBS: A Children’s Ministry Event

CAMP TEN:10: A Children’s Ministry Event

What is Camp Ten:10?
 Our church, along with seven other  Churches of Christ, puts on a 4 day summer camp for our 3-6 graders at Texas Baptist Encampment in Palacios, Texas. This camp is geared to help grow their  faith  by   diving into God’s Word and exploring our camp theme, 
 
Camp Activities:
Camp is jam-packed with fun activities! We’ll spend our days worshipping God, playing games, doing arts and crafts, diving in to the Bible with our cabin mate and leaders.
 
Send your campers mail:
Our camp is only 4 days and mail is not delivered on Sunday. Be sure to send mail early to ensure delivery.

What to pack:

What is Camp Bandina?
 A week long, summer Bible camp held at Bandina Christian Youth Camp in Bandera, Texas. Along with our church, several churches around Texas attend. This is considered our major summer youth camp.

OPP CAMP: A Student Ministry Event

What is Opportunity Camp?
A week long summer camp for 9-12 graders where we, in partnership with Canyon Church of Christ, take inner city kids from Impact Church of Christ  to Gulf Coast Christian Youth Camp in Columbus, Texas. All the teens serve as “big buddies” leading Bible studies and loving on the Impact kids.
 
Mandatory Meetings:
Wednesdays, May 15 & 22 at 5:30 p.m. in the Teen Center
 
Travel Schedule:
Departure for camp will be Sunday, June 2 following Bible class. We will return Saturday, June 8, at the church building around 11:45 a.m. for parent pick up.

JHMT: A Student Ministry Event

What is Jr. High Mission Trip (JHMT)?
A week of the summer where our Jr. High students serve our community by doing local outreach through Compassion United. Students stay in host homes and do service projects each day wrapping up with a large group devotional. We end the week with a fun activity.
 
Event Details:
Meet at the Criswell’s house on Monday, June 17 at 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday will be our 3 work days. Friday will be our fun day in Galveston at Schlitterbahn and we will return to the church around 8 p.m. for parent pick up.

We are only mailing out giving statements upon request and are encouraging everyone to access their statements online instead. Looking up your statement online provides added benefits since you can see it immediately and can view it throughout the year. The Vine is a great resource and we want to encourage you to use it for your benefit. TREK: A Student Ministry Event

What is Wilderness Trek?
A week long, summer back-packing trip to summit a mountain. Alongside the hiking, there is a distinct spiritual element to the week. Two Trek runs in the prior months will prove physical fitness as a requirement for this trip. This trip happens every other summer and occurs during the even-years.
 
Mandatory Trek Runs:
Wednesdays, May 16 & June 13 at 8:30 p.m. at the Conroe High School track. Everyone wanting to attend this trip will have to   run 2 miles under 20 minutes.
 
Itinerary:
  • Saturday, July 21:    Meet at the church at 7:30 a.m. Vans are leaving no later than 8 a.m. Traveling to Amarillo by way of Abilene, staying in Amarillo at the University Church in Canyon.
  • Sunday, July 22:  Leaving Amarillo early and traveling to the trail-head of the mountain to begin our hike.
  • Monday, July 23-Friday, July 27:  We will be  hiking and on the mountain. We will have our long hike to our high camp, a rest day and solo time, we will attempt to summit, and then hike down to vans. We will end our hike with a shower at Hot Springs in Salida, CO. 
  • Saturday, July 28:  Leave around 8 a.m. to travel back home. Estimated time of arrival is 7 p.m.
 
What to Bring:
Trek Clothing:
  • 4 pair socks – 2 lightweight and 2 heavy weight (wool or synthetic blend, non-cotton)
  • Adequate supply of underwear
  • Long underwear – top and bottom
  • 2-3 T-Shirts (non-cotton)
  • Long Sleeve Shirt (non-cotton)
  • Fleece pullover or zip-up
  • 2 Shorts
  • 1 long pants (non-jean)
  • Rain Pants (quality)
  • Rain Jacket (quality with hood)
  • Jacket with hood
  • 2 Hats – 1 for sun protection and 1 for warmth
  • Gloves
  • Hiking Boots or hiking Shoes (could be waterproof)
  • Second Pair of Closed Toed Shoes (for camp or if other shoes get wet)

  • Day-pack, like a school backpack (large enough for food, water, gear and extra clothes)
  • 2 One Quart or more Water Bottles (or a water bottle and water bladder)

  • Sun Block with high SPF rating (travel size)

  • Medicines (labeled)
  • Insect Repellent (travel size)
  • Deodorant (travel size)
  • Toothbrush & Toothpaste (travel size)
  • Toilet Paper (unroll enough for a week and put in a ziploc bag)
  • Spoon/Fork or Camping Spork
  • Large Camping Cup for  food and drink or small cup and plate
  • Small Flashlight or Headlamp
  • Whistle (required)
  • Small Bible
  • Writing Utensils
  • Ziploc Bags (to sort and carry personal gear)
  • 2 or more 55 Gallon Trash Bags (used to cover and keep packs dry)
  • Camera (optional)
Beginning & End of Trip Articles:
Clean clothes for the trip up and clean clothes for the final evening’s activities and the trip home. Clean towel and swimsuit for the shower and/or aquatic center.  You will also need to bring money for three meals.
Note:  Plan to leave your luggage and all extra articles in the trailer. They will be kept locked up and will be available when we return at the end of our hike.
 
Items Not to Bring:
Knives, firearms, fireworks, alcohol, tobacco products, illegal drugs and electronic devices (music devices, games, cellular phones, etc). These items may be prohibited by the Forest Service and could  take away from the  experience of a wilderness adventures.  If found, these items may be confiscated.
