Trunk-or-Treat

Join us on Halloween evening for a Drive-Thru Trunk-or-Treat!
 
Event Date: Saturday, October 31 
Event Time & Cost: This  event is free! We welcome our community to join us from 4 to 6 p.m.
 
Be a Trunk:
 

Trunk sign ups are open Sept. 27
and deadline to sign up is Oct. 11.

This year we will host a socially distanced Drive-Thru Trunk or Treat in place of our traditional walk around event.

Please arrive to setup by 3pm.

Trunkers will be assigned to parking locations.

Treats and Candy will be provided to Trunkers to hand out.

Adult volunteers will receive a Grove Kids Volunteer shirt.

Children of Trunkers, can dress in halloween costumes for chance to win best costume, etc. 

Trunker Awards will be awarded!

Thank you for volunteering and for serving our community.

JHMT: A Student Ministry Event

What is Jr. High Mission Trip (JHMT)?
A week of the summer where our Jr. High students serve our community by doing local outreach through Compassion United. Students stay in host homes and do service projects each day wrapping up with a large group devotional. We end the week with a fun activity.
 
Event Details:
Meet at Monday, June 15 at 4 p.m. Meeting location TBA. Tuesday through Thursday will be our 3 work days. Friday, June 19 will be our fun day in Galveston at Schlitterbahn and we will return to the church around 8 p.m. for parent pick up.

CAMP BANDINA: A Student Ministry Event

Bus registration is a separate cost from your camp fee. Bus cost goes directly through your church. If your camper plans on riding the Conroe bus to camp you will also need to pay and register to ride the bus.

What is Camp Bandina?
 A week long, summer Bible camp held at Bandina Christian Youth Camp in Bandera, Texas. Along with our church, several churches around Texas attend. This is considered our major summer youth camp.
 
Departure Schedule on July 5:
  • Luggage Drop-Off/Loading:  8:45 a.m.
  • Buses Depart:  9:45 a.m.

TREK: A Student Ministry Event

What is Wilderness Trek?
A week long, summer back-packing trip to summit a mountain. Alongside the hiking, there is a distinct spiritual element to the week. Two Trek runs in the prior months will prove physical fitness as a requirement for this trip. This trip happens every other summer and occurs during the even-years.
 
Mandatory Trek Runs:
Wednesdays, May 13 & June 10 at 8:30 p.m. at the Conroe High School track. Everyone wanting to attend this trip will have to   run 2 miles under 20 minutes.
 
Itinerary:
  • Sunday, July 19: Meet at the church at 7:30 a.m. Vans are leaving no later than 8 a.m. Traveling to Amarillo by way of Abilene, staying in Amarillo at the University Church in Canyon.
  • Monday, July 20: Leaving Amarillo early and traveling to the trail-head of the mountain to begin our hike.
  • Tuesday, July 21-Friday, July 24: We will be hiking and on the mountain. We will have our long hike to our high camp, a rest day and solo time, we will attempt to summit, and then hike down to vans. We will end our hike with a shower at Hot Springs in Salida, CO. 
  • Saturday, July 25: Leave around 8 a.m. to travel back home. Estimated time of arrival is 7 p.m.
 
What to Bring:
Trek Clothing:
  • 4 pair socks – 2 lightweight and 2 heavy weight (wool or synthetic blend, non-cotton)
  • Adequate supply of underwear
  • Long underwear – top and bottom
  • 2-3 T-Shirts (non-cotton)
  • Long Sleeve Shirt (non-cotton)
  • Fleece pullover or zip-up
  • 2 Shorts
  • 1 long pants (non-jean)
  • Rain Pants (quality)
  • Rain Jacket (quality with hood)
  • Jacket with hood
  • 2 Hats – 1 for sun protection and 1 for warmth
  • Gloves
  • Hiking Boots or hiking Shoes (could be waterproof)
  • Second Pair of Closed Toed Shoes (for camp or if other shoes get wet)

  • Day-pack, like a school backpack (large enough for food, water, gear and extra clothes)
  • 2 One Quart or more Water Bottles (or a water bottle and water bladder)

  • Medicines (labeled)
  • Insect Repellent (travel size)
  • Deodorant (travel size)
  • Toothbrush & Toothpaste (travel size)
  • Toilet Paper (unroll enough for a week and put in a ziploc bag)
  • Spoon/Fork or Camping Spork
  • Large Camping Cup for  food and drink or small cup and plate
  • Small Flashlight or Headlamp
  • Whistle (required)
  • Small Bible
  • Writing Utensils
  • Ziploc Bags (to sort and carry personal gear)
  • 2 or more 55 Gallon Trash Bags (used to cover and keep packs dry)
  • Camera (optional)
Beginning & End of Trip Articles:
Clean clothes for the trip up and clean clothes for the final evening’s activities and the trip home. Clean towel and swimsuit for the shower and/or aquatic center.  You will also need to bring money for three meals.
Note:  Plan to leave your luggage and all extra articles in the trailer. They will be kept locked up and will be available when we return at the end of our hike.
 
Items Not to Bring:
Knives, firearms, fireworks, alcohol, tobacco products, illegal drugs and electronic devices (music devices, games, cellular phones, etc). These items may be prohibited by the Forest Service and could  take away from the  experience of a wilderness adventures.  If found, these items may be confiscated.

What is Opportunity Camp?
A week long summer camp for 9-12 graders where we, in partnership with Canyon Church of Christ, take inner city kids from Impact Church of Christ  to Gulf Coast Christian Youth Camp in Columbus, Texas. All the teens serve as “big buddies” leading Bible studies and loving on the Impact kids.
 
Mandatory Meetings:
Wednesdays, May 13 & 20 at 5:30 p.m. in the Teen Center
 
Travel Schedule:
Departure for camp will be Sunday, May 31 following Bible class. We will return Saturday, June 6, at the church building around 11:45 a.m. for parent pick up.
